Fans of tomatoes with a pronounced sweet taste should pay attention to the Raspberry Sugar Plum tomato.
These small, flavorful "cream" have become famous among vegetable growers for their excellent canning behavior in whole, thanks to the following qualities:
- elastic skin;
- small size (up to 25 g) and unusual plum-shaped fruit;
- fleshy pulp;
- pronounced sweet-sugar taste;
- rich crimson color;
- small seed chambers.
The maximum yield of "Sugar Plum" is obtained in a greenhouse, up to 7-8 kg per 1 sq. m. In the open field, these tomatoes are also grown, although not with the same result. The variety belongs to the early maturing. The first harvest can be obtained in 87-95 days.
Seedlings of "cream" are sown in mid-March. After the appearance of two or three real leaves, a pick is carried out. Seedlings are provided with good lighting, watering, and fertilizing. By mid-May, the sprouts reach 6-7 leaves and are ready for planting in the greenhouse. Seedlings are planted in open ground in early June. A week before planting, hardening begins.
The growth type of Sugar Plum is semi-determinant. The bushes are elongated high, about 1.2 - 1.4 meters and require a garter to a strong base 2-3 times per season. According to reviews, tomatoes "Raspberry Sugar Plum" are best formed in 2-3 stems. When pinching, one or two processes are left in stock.
After the main stem is completed, the stepchildren continue to grow and give out the ovary. The bush is compact and with a good garter, you can fit up to 8-9 roots per 1 sq. m.
Soil and fertilizing
Like other early ripening tomatoes, this variety is very picky about the composition of the soil and timely feeding.
For more than two years in a row, you cannot plant any nightshade in one place. The soil is depleted and diseases and pests of this plant family start. It is better to plant tomatoes after carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, parsley. Before planting, organic fertilizers are introduced into the soil: peat, humus, compost.
After planting in the ground, after 2 weeks, the first root top dressing is done with superphosphate and ammonium nitrate. During the formation of the ovary, ammonium nitrate and potassium sulfate are introduced. You can replace mineral supplements with organic ones - a solution of bird droppings or mullein.
Flowering is stimulated by spraying with Tomaton, Ovary, or boric acid solution. Tomatoes respond well to peat mulching after planting and feeding.
Early ripe tomatoes are more water-dependent than other varieties. Especially when pouring tomatoes, watering is needed systematic and abundant every 4-6 days. To avoid cracking the fruit, do not allow abundant watering after severe drying out.
Pests and diseases
"Sugar plum" is susceptible to the main diseases of tomatoes. Therefore, they carry out all preventive measures against pests, fungi and diseases.
In mid-July, the first "Sugar Plums" begin to ripen. The tomato turns out to be dense, elastic, rich crimson color. It tolerates transportation well and is well stored. According to reviews, “Raspberry Sugar Plum” tomatoes are very sweet and tasty, do not crack from hot marinade, but slightly dry for salad.
